The ReAct Loop: How AI Agents Think & Act
AI agents operate through a continuous Reason-Act-Observe cycle, leveraging large language models to analyze tasks, execute actions through connected tools, and evaluate results to drive toward their goals.
The agent analyzes the task, breaks it into steps, and decides the next action using LLM reasoning. It evaluates context from memory, prior observations, and the current environment to formulate a plan of action.
The agent executes the chosen action: calling tools, querying APIs, writing code, or delegating to other agents. Tasks are governed by the reasoning plan and may access enterprise services (CRMs, git repos, databases) or orchestrate sub-agent swarms.
The agent evaluates the result, updates its context, and decides whether to continue or complete. This observation feeds back into the next reasoning step, creating a self-reinforcing loop that improves efficiency over time.
